BJP neta killed by Maoists in Bastar, 8th since last year

Tirupati Katla, a BJP functionary and janpad panchayat member, was brutally attacked and killed by a Maoist hit squad in Bijapur district, Bastar, after attending a wedding. This marks the eighth murder of a BJP functionary by Maoists since the previous year and the first since the BJP returned to office in December.
